The bacari are typical Venetian “cafés” where you can stop for a quick lunch and taste a number of fish, meat or vegetarian cicheti (appetizers), which are so popular in town, making sure you combine them with a glass of the appropriate sort of wine. If you walk and visit a couple of bacari, you can literally taste Venice and its unique traditional culinary specialties.
For those of you that instead crave for something sweet, we can suggest typical pasticcerie (pastry shops and cafés), where you can taste not only pastries, but also cookies and all sorts of sweets and cakes of the Venetian tradition. And if you come to Venice during Carnival, you will be delighted to try the exquisite Carnival sweets: frittelle, galani, castagnole… And what about ice cream? There are gelaterie in town that will amaze you! Just try the famous gianduiotto…
