Venice: the Feast of the Redeemer 2021

July 17th and 18th, 2021 On the third Sunday of July in Venice we celebrate the Redeemer’s Feast, in memory of the end of the plague epidemic that occurred in 1576.
For this occasion a votive pontoon bridge is built across the Giudecca Canal to join Venice with the Redeemer’s Church, so that not only the faithful, but actually anyone, can reach their destination on foot, like on a pilgrimage, without having to necessarily ride a boat.
The pontoon bridge will be opened on Friday 16th at 9 pm, so that both on Saturday 17th and Sunday 18th it will be possible to cross it all day long to reach the church.

Along with the religious tradition, we have also a secular one that we enjoy so much: spectacular fireworks in St Mark’s Basin will light the night on Saturday 17th, starting from 11:30 pm!
And on Sunday 18th, in the afternoon, we can admire some traditional regattas!

Book a guided tour with us: we will tell you the story of this and other peculiar Venetian feasts and we will show you the spots or areas where they take place!
